For decades, the environmental and climate justice movements have examined the link between technology, infrastructure, pollution, and marginalization. In this special topics course, (Winter 2026, CU Boulder) students will engage with the theory and practice of the environmental and climate justice movements from their beginnings to the present. We will consider how technologies within the information science sector contribute to both environmental justice and injustice, and engage with topics around community resistance, self determination, joy, and healing in the face of unfolding climate and environmental crises.
